Hospitality Event Operations Lab
Equips students with industry-standard event management technology and equipment through hands-on learning at the Scarlet Hotel.
About the Campaign
The HRTM Student Event Operations Lab will expand experiential learning in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's hospitality, restaurant and tourism management program by equipping our Scarlet Hotel academic space with industry-standard event operations and catering resources. After one year of teaching in this state-of-the-art facility, we have identified key equipment needed to enhance live event production and student learning. Funding will provide registration technology, communication equipment, guest service resources, catering equipment and storage solutions that will allow students to plan, produce and execute professional-quality events in an environment that mirrors today's hospitality industry.

How does this impact students?
The HRTM Student Event Operations Lab will directly enhance the education of 150-200 hospitality, restaurant and tourism management students each year by providing access to industry-standard event operations and catering equipment. Students will gain hands-on experience planning and executing live events while collaborating across multiple HRTM courses and with the professional golf management program. These experiences strengthen technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills while supporting 500-1,000 campus and community guests annually through professionally managed events. The project will expand experiential learning opportunities and better prepare graduates for successful careers in Nebraska's growing hospitality and tourism industry.

Why should you support this project?
HRTM students learn by planning and producing real events for real clients. The Student Event Operations Lab will give them equipment and supplies they can use across multiple courses and events for years to come.
Your gift will help provide:Â Â
⚫ Catering and food service equipment for hands-on learning
âš« Event equipment and supplies for student-produced experiences
âš« Opportunities to build the skills and confidence needed for hospitality careers
The lab will support approximately 150 - 200 HRTM students each semester. Student-produced events will also serve campus and community attendees. By supporting this project, donors are investing in our students and the events that bring our community together.
