About the Campaign 📈

The Nebraska Council on Economic Education (NCEE), housed within the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business, will rebuild and modernize its semester-long personal finance course after the Canvas Free for Teachers platform became unavailable. The course originally was developed to support implementation of Nebraska's personal finance graduation requirement and quickly became a trusted resource for educators across the state. This comprehensive semester-long course is specifically designed for Nebraska classrooms, fully aligned with Nebraska's personal finance standards, and includes ready-to-use daily lessons, instructional materials, classroom activities, assessments and teacher resources that allow educators to implement the course immediately. The course will be developed using Google's suite of educational tools and delivered through NCEE's website, providing Nebraska educators with a stable, no-cost resource that can be maintained and updated over time. Prior to becoming unavailable, the course had been accessed by 440 Nebraska educators, demonstrating strong demand for this resource.

How does this impact students?

Since Nebraska requires all high school students to complete a personal finance course for graduation, teachers need access to high-quality instructional materials. Developing a complete semester-long course from scratch requires significant time and expertise, creating a barrier for many schools. Before the Canvas Free for Teachers platform was discontinued, 440 Nebraska educators already had accessed the course, demonstrating both its value and statewide demand. Rebuilding this comprehensive, standards-aligned course will provide teachers with a ready-to-use resource that can be implemented immediately, ultimately benefiting thousands of Nebraska students each year.

Why should you support this project?

Every Nebraska student deserves the opportunity to graduate with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions. Personal finance is a life skill that influences where we live, the careers we pursue, how we manage debt, save for the future and build financial security. By providing teachers with a comprehensive, classroom-ready course, this project helps ensure students receive high-quality financial education before they begin making financial choices that can shape their opportunities for decades. A modest investment today will help strengthen the financial future of Nebraska for generations to come.
